White & Case promotes 23 to local partner and 22 to counsel

Global law firm White & Case LLP has promoted 23 lawyers to local partner and 22 lawyers to counsel.

"Representing 13 practices and 22 offices across the Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific, they have a wide range of skills, experience and backgrounds and demonstrate the diverse and truly global nature of White & Case."

In addition to the internal promotions, White & Case has hired two local partners and 14 counsel during 2023 to date.

At White & Case, the position of local partner is offered in select regions and locations where it is common market practice including Mexico in the Americas; Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, the Middle East, Poland, South Africa and Spain in EMEA; and China, Japan and Korea in Asia-Pacific. It is a recognized career step toward admission into Firm partnership.

The role of counsel is for senior lawyers with significant experience in a particular practice area. The title is used across White & Case, in all offices, usually as an alternative career path to partnership.

The promotions are effective January 1, 2024 except where noted.

Americas (eight promotions)

Jason Burgoyne
Jason Burgoyne has been named counsel in our International Trade Practice. Based in Washington, DC, his practice focuses on advising clients on complex regulatory matters arising under the jurisdiction of the US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), the US Department of State's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) and the US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Yuriria Galicia
Yuriria Galicia has been named a local partner in our Global Commercial Litigation Practice. Based in Mexico City, her practice focuses on advising energy, telecommunications, transport, financial institution and government clients on constitutional and administrative litigation, and antitrust matters.

Danielle Herrick
Danielle Herrick has been named Professional Support Counsel in our Public Company Advisory Practice. Based in New York, she is focused on legal and regulatory updates, current corporate governance topics and ESG-related developments that impact public companies, authoring client alerts and thought leadership, and maintaining and developing knowledge resources, standard forms, internal and external training materials and other resources.

Jennifer Ivers
Jennifer Ivers has been named counsel in our Global International Arbitration Practice. Based in Washington, DC, her practice focuses on advising sovereigns and private investors on international disputes, acting as counsel in a variety of arbitrations including ICSID and ICC, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules.

Ron Kendler
Ron Kendler has been named counsel in our International Trade Practice. Based in Washington, DC, his practice focuses on advising clients in a range of sectors including manufacturing, energy and agriculture on antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings before the US Department of Commerce and US International Trade Commission, appeals to the US Court of International Trade (CIT) and US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC) and the law of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Alejandro Martinez de Hoz
Alejandro Martinez de Hoz has been named counsel in our Global International Arbitration Practice. Based in Washington, DC, his practice focuses on advising clients in a number of sectors including financial services, energy, infrastructure and mining on commercial arbitrations, investment arbitrations and related negotiations.

Abigail Simon
Abigail Simon has been named counsel in our Global Capital Markets Practice. Based in New York, her practice focuses on advising corporates, investment banks and sponsors in a wide range of industries on public and private debt capital markets transactions including high yield and investment-grade debt offerings, exchange offers, tender offers, consents solicitations and other liability management transactions.

Sebastian Zonte
Sebastian Zonte has been named counsel in our Intellectual Property Practice. Based in Los Angeles, his practice focuses on advising clients on life sciences patent litigation matters.

Nezar Al-Abbas
Nezar Al-Abbas has been named a local partner in our Global Project Development and Finance Practice. Based in Riyadh, his practice focuses on advising lenders and borrowers on various forms of Islamic and conventional financing, in particular corporate, trade and project finance.

Nicolas Bechtold
Nicolas Bechtold has been named a local partner in our Global Commercial Litigation Practice. Based in Frankfurt, his practice focuses on advising financial sector clients on commercial litigation proceedings, post-mergers and acquisitions litigation and real estate litigation, as well as advising on technology, internet and social media law.

Adnan Bekdur
Adnan Bekdur has been named a local partner in our Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. Based in Dubai, his practice focuses on advising private equity firms, sovereign wealth funds, other financial sponsors and alternative capital providers on a range of transactions including mergers and acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, equity investments, co-investments and other corporate matters.

Jane Bergin
Jane Bergin has been named counsel in our Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. Based in London, her practice focuses on advising real estate investment companies, private equity funds, banks, occupiers and other stakeholders on a range of asset classes including data centers, as well as on commercial real estate-focused transactions including landlord and tenant work, real estate portfolio management work, real estate investment acquisitions and disposals and the property aspects of corporate and private equity transactions and cross-border transactions.

Cristina Caroppo
Cristina Caroppo has been named a local partner in our Global Antitrust Practice. Based in Dusseldorf, her practice focuses on advising clients in industries including consumer products and automotive on merger control reviews, cartel matters and vertical conduct investigations.

Philippa Chadwick
Philippa Chadwick has been named Professional Support Counsel in our Global Project Development and Finance Practice. Based in London, she is focused on monitoring and analysing legal, practice and market developments, capturing and managing know-how, designing and contributing to internal and client training, providing support to lawyers in the practice globally and working with practice technology teams to deliver knowledge, innovation and legal technology initiatives.

Joshua Cohen has been named a local partner in our Global Project Development and Finance Practice. Callum Johnson
Callum Johnson has been named counsel in our Construction Practice. Currently based in London, Callum is relocating to Houston in early 2024 and his practice focuses on construction disputes arising out of infrastructure, energy and commercial development projects, advising contractors, subcontractors, multinational employers and owners on ICC, ADCCAC, UNCITRAL and LCIA arbitrations, statutory adjudication and mediation, as well as on FIDIC, NEC and JCT standard forms and bespoke contracts.

Petra Kistner has been named a local partner in our Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. Based in Dusseldorf, her practice focuses on advising international and domestic clients on all energy law-related matters, in particular renewable energies and the development of the transmission grid.

Radek Kraus

Based in Melbourne, her practice focuses on construction, advising clients on the life cycle of a project, with experience ranging from project inception to advising on contentious disputes through mediation, adjudication, arbitration and litigation.

Alexis Fong
Alexis Fong has been named counsel in our Global Project Development and Finance Practice. Based in Melbourne, her practice focuses on advising corporate borrowers, sponsors and financial institutions on a range of cross-border and domestic financing transactions including project finance, debt capital markets, leveraged finance and general bank lending.

Paulina Ho
Paulina Ho has been named counsel in our Global Commercial Litigation Practice, effective March 1, 2023. Based in Hong Kong, her practice focuses on advising clients on multijurisdictional commercial disputes, enforcement and insolvency proceedings and regulatory issues and investigations, with additional experience advising on white collar and contentious employment matters.
