Investing in our communities
Supporting meaningful causes through volunteering and charitable giving
Through volunteering, our people worldwide engage in valuable projects for a wide range of causes. Our charitable giving supports pro bono partner organizations, legal education programs and charity partners and promotes diversity throughout the legal profession.
Our Responsible Business campaign, Elevate, unifies Firmwide efforts
In 2023, White & Case launched its inaugural Responsible Business campaign under the banner "Elevate: investing in the next generation." This campaign unifies and concentrates the Firm's Responsible Business initiatives on educating, employing and empowering young people, thus amplifying the impact of our significant global work to date.
Protecting the environment
Every year, our people organize volunteering and charitable giving activities that support the environment. Recent initiatives include a park cleanup in Tampa, an educational event on living a low-carbon lifestyle in Beijing, an e-bike tour in Brussels, and a Firmwide trivia quiz to support reforestation in Ghana. Long-standing office highlights include a tree planting campaign in Beijing that started in 2009 and a decade-long collaboration with ZSL (the Zoological Society of London).
Providing access to the legal profession
For more than 12 years, our New York lawyers have organized an immersive Legal Diversity Pipeline Program in collaboration with Street Law. High school students from Harlem are taught legal topics in the classroom and then spend a day at the office to put the lessons into practice through contract negotiations and mock trials.
Teaching professional skills to the next generation
Urban debate leagues in the US provide underserved students with critical skills and positive outcomes, such as increased high school graduation and college acceptance rates. All of our US offices support local leagues through judging, coaching and hosting events. The Firm sponsors the National Association of Urban Debate Leagues and its White & Case NAUDL Alumni Fellows Program through weekly career-readiness roundtable discussions throughout the summer.
By launching our global Elevate campaign, we hope to inspire and unite our people so that, collectively as One Firm, we can make a difference and tangibly see the impact of what we’re doing.
Our pipeline and social mobility programs are designed to reach underprivileged youth and ensure they feel empowered and recognize the opportunities available to them.
