Global law firm White & Case LLP has promoted 40 lawyers to counsel and 28 lawyers to local partner.

"With 68 lawyers across 29 offices and 12 global practices who represent a breadth of skills, experience and backgrounds, these promotions are a demonstration that White & Case is a truly global and diverse law firm which invests in its people for the long term," said White & Case Chair Hugh Verrier. "These lawyers are successful in their careers because they have exceptional ability, are dedicated to providing clients with the highest standards of service and have a commitment to the continued success of our Firm."

In addition to the internal promotions, White & Case has hired 16 counsel and seven local partners in 2021.

At White & Case, counsel is a role for senior lawyers with significant experience in a particular practice area. The title is used across the Firm, in all offices, as an alternative career path to partnership but does not preclude consideration for promotion to partner.

The position of local partner is offered in select White & Case regions and locations where it is common market practice including Mexico in the Americas; Belgium, Central & Eastern Europe, Germany, Italy, the Middle East, South Africa and Spain in EMEA; and China, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea in Asia-Pacific. It is a recognized career step toward admission into Firm partnership.

The promotions are effective January 1, 2022 except where noted.
