Dr. Federico Parise Kuhnle
Biography
Overview
Federico Parise Kuhnle is a local partner in White & Case's International Arbitration Practice Group.
Federico assists domestic and international clients with complex cross-border litigation and arbitration proceedings, inter alia under the ICC, DIS, UNCITRAL, and ICSID Rules. Federico's focus lies on disputes in the energy, automotive, chemical and construction industry. He has also acted as counsel in investment disputes.
Federico has studied and worked in Germany, France, Italy, and Sweden and is fluent in four languages. This background allows him to understand the intricacies of multijurisdictional cases, including their cultural aspects. Federico regularly publishes on international arbitration and litigation topics and is one of the regional coordinators for Germany of AIA-ArbIt-40, the Italian young arbitration professionals' association. In this capacity, he is dedicated to promote the exchange and strengthen the ties between his German and Italian peers through publications, lectures, and other events. He is also one of the organizers of the firm’s global activities in support of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.
Federico was seconded to the firm's Paris office for six months in 2018 and regularly supports clients in international disputes together with colleagues from other offices of White & Case's award-winning International Arbitration Practice.

Representation of a Taiwanese solar energy company in a EUR 130-million ICC arbitration against a German supplier about the termination of a long-term supply agreement for economic hardship.
Gas Pricing Reopener
Representation of a European buyer in a multibillion gas pricing reopener arbitration under long-term industrial gas agreements.
Caucasian State
Representing a Caucasian State in an investor-state arbitration brought under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules relating to a dispute over the regulation of gas tariffs.
Balkan Electricity Distributor
Advising a Balkan electricity distributor on force majeure issues concerning an EFET agreement with a wholesaler amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Italian Tier 1 Automotive Supplier
Representation of an Italian automotive parts supplier in several disputes against former co-shareholders and managing directors in a DIS arbitration, court proceedings and out-of-court negotiations.
Global Industrial Chemical Manufacturer
Representation of a chemical producer in a Paris-seated UNCITRAL arbitration against the operator of a chemical plant in France regarding the calculation of operating fees under German law.
Global Industrial Chemical Manufacturer
Successful representation in a post-M&A/construction dispute. The arbitration under the DIS Rules concerned several technical defects of the chemical plant acquired by our client.

Representation of a European construction company in an ICC arbitration regarding the construction of a hydroelectric project in Chile.
