Your day-to-day role

What our trainees actually do...
Capital Markets
You’ll assist with different stages of the transaction. Your tasks include verifying statements in investor representations and the prospectus, drafting ancillary documents such as officer’s certificates, legal opinions and notices, and managing the closing of a transaction.
Debt Finance
The team will rely on you to manage the conditions precedent and conditions subsequent workstreams of a deal, so it is important to have a good grasp of the deal structure at the outset. You’ll be preparing checklists, drafting and reviewing corporate authorization documents and legal opinion, liaising with clients and local counsel, and assisting with closings.
Disputes
Your varied workload will include research tasks; conducting document review; drafting pleadings and correspondences; attending client meetings and interviews; and coordinating work streams in the lead- up to filing deadlines. At times, trainees are assigned to appear before the court.
Financial Restructuring and Insolvency
You will be responsible for reviewing loan/bond documentation to ascertain defaults and creditor rights, along with document management and service in the context of a planned enforcement strategy, scheme of arrangement or formal insolvency proceedings. You’ll also assist with research tasks, the drafting of documents (such as enforcement memos and demand letters) and insolvency-related filings.
Investment Funds
As a trainee, you will be responsible for process management, drafting ancillary documents such as board meetings and closing certificates, and assist with closing by preparing execution copies, closing emails and compiled, executed copies.
Private Equity/M&A
A large portion of the work on this team involves project management and coordination with the various parties on the different work streams. You’ll liaise with our global offices or external counsels on local law issues, along with the specialist teams.
