Xavier Hubert
Biography
Overview
Xavier Hubert is a partner in the White Collar and Investigations department of the Paris office of White & Case.
Xavier has experience advising on compliance, corruption and fraud matters, investigations, commercial, economic and financial crime litigation also human rights, environmental and climate litigation and interventions and actions before the commercial and civil courts in disputes involving business law and liability.
Xavier joins White & Case from French multinational Engie, where he was Group Director of Ethics, Compliance & Privacy.
Prior to that he spent almost 30 years as a judge and prosecutor for the French Ministry of Justice (Ministère de la Justice) in law courts and with public authorities. Previous roles include Legal Manager for complex market operations at the French Stock Exchange Commission and Deputy Bureau Chief for credit institutions and banking regulation at the French Treasury Department.
Xavier's experience at Engie included the implementation of a strong and efficient compliance structure throughout the Group, covering more than 3,000 subsidiaries and 45 countries; managing Engie's exit from all activities in countries directly targeted by international sanctions.
As a public prosecutor Xavier was the first French public prosecutor to pursue and support the prosecution in court of a corporate bank and its directors for embezzlement, forgery and misappropriation of assets, and obtain their convictions in the first instance; and for five years headed an investigation and prosecution department in charge of the fight against narco-trafficking, complex economic and financial crime and money laundering throughout Central and South America, with a particular focus on the French Caribbean.
