Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded its Global White Collar Practice with the addition of Xavier Hubert as a partner in Paris.
"Xavier adds both prestige and bench strength to our white collar team in Paris, with his experience in-house and as a public prosecutor making him uniquely placed to advise clients on the full spectrum of their white collar and investigation needs," said White & Case partner Joel Cohen, who leads the Firm's Global White Collar Practice. "As we see the number and complexity of white collar risks our clients are facing increase, we must ensure we have sufficient resources to serve clients at the highest level, and senior lawyers who have the expertise to advise on the full range of complex and cross-border contentious matters. Xavier is the perfect addition to our practice."
Xavier has experience advising on compliance, corruption and fraud matters, investigations, commercial, economic and financial crime litigation, and interventions and actions before the commercial and civil courts in disputes involving business law and liability. He also has strong experience on corporate social responsibility and human rights issues and environmental and climate action, including all reporting obligations and litigation. Xavier joins White & Case from French multinational Engie, where he was Group Director of Ethics, Compliance & Privacy. Prior to that he spent almost 30 years as a judge and prosecutor for the French Ministry of Justice (Ministère de la Justice) in law courts and with public authorities. Previous roles include Legal Manager for complex market operations at the French Stock Exchange Commission and Deputy Bureau Chief for credit institutions and banking regulation at the French Treasury Department.
White & Case partner and Vice Chair Oliver Brettle said: "Dispute resolution, including white collar, remains a priority for the Firm globally. In Paris, we expanded at the start of 2024 with the addition of disputes and investigations partners Kami Haeri and Alexandre Kiabski who, together with partners Diane Lamarche and Félix Thillaye, have built a strong reputation in the French market advising clients on their most complex contentious matters. The arrival of Xavier is an important step to support the continued build out of our disputes capabilities in Paris and globally. His significant experience as a public prosecutor, not only initiating court proceedings but also directing investigations and being able to intervene in any commercial, financial or civil dispute, make him a significant asset to our clients."
