Biography
Overview
Shintaro Kitayama is an associate in our Corporate/M&A practice group, based in Brussels. Mr. Kitayama has extensive experience in Corporate, M&A and antitrust matters.
Prior to joining White & Case, Mr. Kitayama worked at a leading law firm in Tokyo. He has also worked on secondment at leading Japanese automotive companies and a leading international bank.
During law school, he was a judicial intern for the Honorable Robert E. Grossman of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York. He also served as Articles & Notes Editor of the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review.
Shintaro is recognized by Best Lawyers in its "Ones to Watch" category for Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions Law in Japan.
Experience
Toyota Motor Corporation in connection with its long-term collaborative projects with BMW AG, including the joint development of sports cars (BMW Z4 and Toyota Supra) and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles.
Yamauchi-No.10 Family Office, the family office of the Yamauchi family which started and built up the global gaming giant Nintendo, in its acquisition of a majority stake in Taiyo Pacific Partners LP, which was founded in 2003 by Asia-focused professionals dedicated to friendly shareholder activism in Japan and India.
Yamauchi-No.10 Family Office in its proposed unsolicited counterbid to acquire Toyo Construction to privatise the Japanese construction company at an offer price of JPY 1,000 per share, or approximately 94 billion JPY in total.
Panasonic Corporation on its acquisition of the remaining 80% of the capital stock interests of Blue Yonder, a leading end-to-end, digital fulfillment platform provider, at an enterprise value of US$8.5 billion on a cash-free, debt-free basis.
