Mao Muraguchi
Biography
Overview
Mao Muraguchi is an associate in White & Case's global Mergers & Acquisitions practice based in Tokyo. His practice focuses on investment funds, real estate and regulatory matters.
Mao has experience in private equity, venture capital, infrastructure, debt and real estate funds, assisting with both transactional and advisory matters for a broad range of international and Japanese clients.
He regularly advises sovereign wealth funds, large pension funds and institutional investors on their investment activity globally and has advised extensively on Japanese financial regulations matters.
Prior to joining White & Case, Mao was a member of a highly regarded investment funds and real estate practice at another leading international law firm in Tokyo. While at his prior firm, Mao completed a secondment at a global fund manager as part of the Compliance team.
Experience
Mao's experience includes advising:
- Advantage Partners on its formation and private placement of Japan Hydrogen Fund, the Japan's first fund dedicated to investments in the hydrogen sector.
- SoftBank Group Corp on the US$93.15 billion launch of the SoftBank Vision Fund (the world's largest technology-focused private equity fund) that involved the establishment and license application of investment advisory companies in Japan, the UK, and the US.*
- Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) on its investment in the JAPAN ASEAN Women Empowerment Fund, a microfinance fund which will mainly provide debt to microfinance institutions in Southeast Asian countries.*
