Overview

Claudio Medeossi is a counsel in our Global Capital Markets Practice currently based in our UAE offices. He has more than 20 years of expertise and has extensive experience in capital markets, asset finance and structured finance, including Islamic finance sukuk transactions as well as sale, acquisition and securitisation of non-performing loans (NPLs) and distressed assets.

Claudio's practice focuses on advising banks and corporate trustees in their roles as note trustee/security trustee/security agent and delegate/representative under sukuk transactions as well as banks in their roles as paying agents, fiscal agents and facility agents, including in relation to debt workouts, defaults and restructurings. Claudio's transaction experience covers various jurisdictions, including Europe, the GCC, Africa and Asia. He has also an extensive experience in advising similar roles under Italian, Portuguese and Greek securitisations.

*Advised Citibank as facility agent, security agent and delegate in the US$913,026,000 Government Export Credit Agency guaranteed sukuk for Emirates Airlines, the world's first sukuk financing supported by ECGD and the largest ever capital markets offering in the aviation space with an Export Credit Agency guarantee.

*Advised Citibank as representative and paying agent on the inaugural US$500 million sukuk issuance by the Republic of South Africa.

*Advised Citibank as representative and paying agent on the first and third sukuk issuances by the Republic of Türkiye.

*Advised HSBC as agent on the inaugural £200 million sukuk issuance by HM Treasury in the United Kingdom.

*Advised Citibank as delegate and paying agent on the US$1.5 billion dual tranche sukuk issuance by the Government of Malaysia.

*Advised the delegate on the establishment of a US$2 billion trust certificate issuance programme by Ooredoo Q.S.C. and the inaugural issuance of US$1.25 billion of trust certificates.

*Advised Citibank as onshore and offshore security agent in the Nyumba Ya Akiba Cement project in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
