Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised NRG Energy, Inc. (NYSE:NRG), a leading North American energy and home services company, on its entry into a definitive agreement to acquire six power generation facilities from Texas-based Rockland Capital, LLC for US$560 million.
The acquisition adds 738 Megawatts (MW) of modern, flexible natural gas-fired capacity to NRG's natural gas generation portfolio and includes one combined-cycle unit and five peaker units, further strengthening NRG's position in the rapidly growing market.
This addition to its portfolio reinforces NRG's position as a leading generator in Texas and enhances its integrated platform as Texas experiences record electricity growth driven by electrification, onshoring, population growth and data centers.
The White & Case team was led by M&A partners Morgan Hollins (Houston) and Thomas Christopher, and included associates Dilara Erik, Bridget Costello, Emilia Calderon (all in New York), Yves Bramwell, Luis Leos (both in Houston) and Tyree Harriott (Los Angeles); Tax partners Chad McCormick and Neil Clausen and associate Thor Fielland (all in Houston); Real Estate partner John Cahill and associate Weldon Burrow (both in New York); and Project Development and Finance partner Raffaele Turco and international law clerk Catherine Gu (both in New York).
