Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Macquarie Asset Management on its acquisition of a 60 percent stake in National Grid plc’s UK gas transmission and metering business in a consortium with institutional investors.  

"White & Case has advised Macquarie Asset Management on a landmark energy transition deal which showcases our experience and capabilities supporting key transactions in the energy sector," said White & Case partner Tim Sheddick, who led the Firm's deal team. "The business owns and operates the UK's National Transmission System, which currently transports natural gas, but is planning to convert the network to hydrogen."

The consortium is comprised of funds managed by Macquarie Asset Management and British Colombia Investment Management Corporation. The 7,660 kilometre transmission system plays a critical role in the UK energy landscape, reliably transporting the gas needed to heat homes and power industry and electricity generation.
