White & Case advises Groupe Matmut on acquisition of HSBC Assurances Vie (France)

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised French insurer Groupe Matmut on the signing of a memorandum of understanding with HSBC Continental Europe for the acquisition by Matmut Société d'Assurance Mutuelle (SAM) of 100 percent of the share capital of HSBC Assurances Vie (France).

The project is part of Groupe Matmut's 2024-2026 Objective: Impact! strategic plan, which aims, among other things, to develop the share of personal insurance, particularly savings, within its business model.

The completion is expected in the second half of 2025. The acquisition will be carried out in compliance with the consultation schedule of the employee representative bodies of the entities concerned and the approval by the relevant external authorities, notably the Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de résolution (ACPR) and the Competition Authority.
