Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised a banking syndicate on the expansion of the secured infrastructure financing of Glasfaser Nordwest GmbH & Co. KG (Glasfaser Nordwest), a joint venture between Telekom Deutschland GmbH and EWE AG, to a total of €1.4 billion.
The additional financing is provided by a €600 million accordion facility from a banking syndicate consisting of ABN AMRO, BayernLB, BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole, Helaba, ING, KfW, KfW IPEX, LBBW, MUFG, NatWest, NordLB and UniCredit.
The financing will enable Glasfaser Nordwest to further expand its fiber optic network in northwestern Germany, in both urban and rural areas, taking a major step towards the goal of providing 1.5 million households with fiber optic access.
White & Case previously advised on the first financing round of €800 million in 2022.
The White & Case team in Hamburg which advised on the transaction was led by partner Florian Degenhardt and included local partner Roland Arlt, counsel Beate Treibmann and associates Dana Masberg and Robert Bente.
