Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised EDF Renewables, a global renewable energy subsidiary of France-based EDF Group, on its acquisition of 100 percent of the shares in West Sea Energy 1 Co., Ltd., which is developing an offshore wind project in Yeonggwang, South Joella Province, in South Korea.

White & Case partner Julien Bocobza, who led the Firm's deal team, said: "This transaction marks EDF Renewables' inaugural investment in the burgeoning South Korea offshore wind market. It is an excellent example of White & Case's ability to leverage our market-leading offshore wind experience to advise on a first-in-country matter for a client."

EDF Renewables will continue to develop the offshore wind project, which upon completion is expected to have a capacity of up to 1.5GW. The acquisition marks a significant milestone for EDF Renewables as it seeks to expand its offshore wind presence in Asia-Pacific.

The White & Case team which advised on the transaction was led by partner Julien Bocobza and local partner Lorraine Yip (both Tokyo) and included associates Yun Yong and Trishala Naidu (both Singapore).
