Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Alstom, a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, on its entry into a binding agreement to sell its North American conventional rail signaling business to Knorr-Bremse AG, the world's leading manufacturer of braking systems, for approximately €630 million.
Under the terms of the transaction, Alstom will continue to serve the North American signaling market on different segments with Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) and European Train Control System (ETCS) solutions.
This sale to Knorr-Bremse AG is part of the comprehensive company action plan that Alstom announced in November, 2023, aiming at reinforcing its leadership position in the rail industry.
The White & Case team was led by M&A partners Kimberly Petillo-Decossard (New York) and Caitlin Powell Gimpel (Milan and Chicago), and included associates Marina Safonova and Amrita Mohan, and international law clerk Isabelle James (all in New York).
