Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded its Intellectual Property Practice with the addition of Michael Evans as a partner in London.
"White & Case advises clients across industries on their most important technology transactions, guiding them through issues relating to the creation, protection, acquisition, licensing and commercial exploitation of technology and intellectual property," said White & Case partner Yar Chaikovsky, Head of the Firm's Intellectual Property Practice. "Michael's skillset and technical expertise are ideal to further expand our capabilities to offer this specialist advice to clients."
Michael advises clients on the technology regulatory, intellectual property, contract and data aspects of their corporate transactions, commercial contracts and strategic projects, particularly in the context of technology investments, separation projects and commercial agreements. Michael joins White & Case from Clifford Chance, where he was counsel.
"Michael brings extensive technology regulatory, intellectual property and commercial contracting expertise together, especially in the context of technology sector transactions and transactions driven by technology and intellectual property," said White & Case partner Daniel Turgel, co-head of the Firm's Global Technology Industry Group. "His experience will make him a valuable asset to our technology and fintech clients and those clients making technology investments, from private equity, sovereign wealth funds and venture capital investors to financial services institutions and other corporates."
White & Case partner and Vice Chair Oliver Brettle said: "In recent years, we have made substantial investments in market leading individuals to develop our transactional practices in London and globally. We now need additional intellectual property partner expertise in EMEA, particularly in the area of technology transactions, to ensure we have sufficient specialist capabilities to support our clients. The addition of Michael helps meet that need and supports our strategic growth in a number of key areas, namely mergers and acquisitions, private equity and technology."
Michael's arrival follows a number of lateral partner additions so far this year, including intellectual property partners Melissa Anyetei in Chicago, Adam Greenfield and Mark Davies in Washington, DC and Bethany Hills and Sapna Palla in New York, high yield partner Anthony Tama in London, and mergers and acquisitions partners Patrick Sarch and Savi Hebbur in London, Keith Hallam, Taurie Zeitzer and John Cahill in New York, Domenico Fanuele in Milan and Sten Olsson in Helsinki.
