Tech-driven energy deals require focus on IP and data rights

In Bloomberg Law, White & Case partners Arlene Arin Hahn and Burr Eckstut examine key factors to consider in negotiating tech-driven energy deals.

The authors note that, "as the energy sector rapidly evolves, technology-driven collaborations" between established energy companies and innovate tech startups "have become critical to foster innovation and drive the energy transition toward global, sustainable solutions."

In order to ensure mutual benefit and success, and to account for future contingencies, the authors argue that parties to these transactions must carefully consider several factors, including long-term agreements, partner stability, IP ownership and protections, government funding and data rights.
