Global law firm White & Case LLP has been named among the top 75 employers in the United Kingdom for social mobility in the 2020 Employer Index Report, published by the Social Mobility Foundation.
According to the World Economic Forum, "social mobility" describes "the movement in personal circumstances either 'upwards' or 'downwards' of an individual in relation to those of their parents."
The Employer Index is an annual benchmarking tool for organizations looking to understand how they are performing on social mobility. To compile the index, the Social Mobility Foundation assesses seven key areas that drive social mobility: work with young people, routes into the employer, attraction of staff, recruitment and selection, data collection, progression of staff and experienced hires, and advocacy.
"My father was a North Korean refugee and both of my parents were immigrants to the US, so social mobility is incredibly important to me," said White & Case partner Arlene Arin Hahn, Chair of the White & Case Global Diversity Initiative. "I want to see our Firm, and the legal profession as a whole, be one in which it doesn't matter where you were born, where you went to school, what your parents earned, or what they did for a living. I want to work with the best talent, and in order to have the best pool of talent, we must include a diverse set of experiences and perspectives. I'm so pleased that White & Case is being recognized for the work we are doing to be the type of employer where all people belong, regardless of their background."
