International Financial Law Review (IFLR) honored White & Case three times in its 2021 IFLR Americas Awards announced on May 27. White & Case was named "CFIUS Team of the Year" (in the inaugural year for the CFIUS award), and two transactions on which White & Case advised were named "Deals of the Year" by IFLR:
- Debt and equity-linked Deal of the Year: Ecuador debt restructuring
White & Case advised on the successful US$17.4 billion restructuring of Ecuador’s sovereign debt. IFLR called the deal “one of the most challenging and significant transactions of the year."
- Loans Deal of the Year: LATAM Airlines DIP financing
White & Case advised on the US$2.45 billion debtor-in-possession (DIP) financing of LATAM Airlines, which "involved a range of complex cross-border issues given the international nature of LATAM’s operations and jurisdictions of incorporation," according to IFLR.
The IFLR Americas awards celebrate "the most legally innovative cross-border transactions that closed in 2020," according to IFLR. Winners are selected from the results of research by the IFLR editorial staff.
