Overview

William Newby is an associate in the London office, practising in the International Arbitration and Construction and Engineering Groups. William has advised on a range of complex international construction and commercial disputes, including those arising out of the oil and gas and infrastructure industries.

William joined the firm in 2021 as a trainee, and gained experience in the Firm's Construction, Dispute Resolution, Asset Finance and Banking groups in London.

Experience

Advising a supermajor oil company in relation to claims for delay received from a consortium of contractors on an oil and gas project in Africa.

Acting for a Middle East government entity in an arbitration concerning the delay to the construction and completion of a pumping station and rising mains.

Acting for the Employer in an ICC arbitration arising out of a contract for the construction of a road bridge in Africa. The arbitration included claims for design delay and the contract was based on the FIDIC Red Book.

Acting for the Employer in an arbitration arising out of the construction of a new international airport in the Middle East.

Acting for a Middle East government entity on disputes relating to the construction of new international airports and regional airports in the country.
