Biography

Overview

Sebastian is an Associate in our Project Development and Finance practice, based in Melbourne. Sebastian advises sponsors and financiers on the acquisition, development and financing of major energy and infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on the renewables and power sectors.

Sebastian was seconded to Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners where he advised across its entire Australian and New Zealand portfolio of early-stage renewable generation and storage investments. While on secondment, he gained hands-on experience as in-house legal counsel to the projects, particularly in relation to Australia's nascent offshore wind sector.

Experience

Renewables and Power

  • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners on the development of Australia's first offshore wind project, the A$8 billion "Star of the South" offshore wind farm in Victoria.
  • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners on the acquisition, development and offtake arrangements in relation to the 240MW Summerfield BESS in South Australia.
  • TagEnergy on the development, offtake arrangements and project financing of the 756MW Golden Plains Wind Farm (Stage 1) in Victoria, Australia. This deal was awarded 'Asia-Pacific Renewables Deal of the Year 2022' by Project Finance International. 
  • Mytilineos S.A on its acquisition of the 150MW Munna Creek solar farm in Queensland.
  • Octopus Investments on its joint venture with the Australian Government’s Clean Energy Finance Corporation for the development of the Gippsland Renewable Energy Park in regional Victoria and the internal structuring arrangements with respect to various other onshore renewable generation projects.
  • Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners on the development and financing of the 589 MW Changfang and Xidao and 500MW Fengmiao offshore wind projects in Taiwan.
  • Developers in relation to development, lincencing, structuring, acquisition and divestment considerations under Australia’s offshore electricity regulatory framework, including the Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Act 2021 (Cth).

  • The Victorian Government in relation to the procurement of the A$50 billion Suburban Rail Loop.
  • The New South Wales Government in relation to the A$13 billion Sydney Metro City & Southwest Line.
  • Hydro Tasmania in respect of the A$773 million sale of the Basslink Interconnector.
  • Perdaman (as sponsor) in relation to the financing, development, construction, operation and maintenance of the A$4.5 billion Karratha urea project.
