Biography
Overview
Matthew Penny is Counsel in White & Case's Project Development and Finance Group based in the Firm's Houston office. Recognized for his expertise in Construction law, Matthew is particularly skilled in developing and managing mega project construction contracts and guiding his clients through strategic decisions pertaining to contracting methodologies, alternative remuneration models and supply chain optimization. Matthew's extensive experience includes drafting intricate commercial transaction agreements related to energy-sector projects, including engineering, procurement and construction agreements and associated corporate documents, across diverse industries, with a focus across the value chain of the energy sector, as well as in infrastructure and manufacturing.
Matthew's practice is further enhanced by his construction litigation experience, allowing him to provide expert strategic and tactical guidance on contractor management issues. In this space, Matthew aims to help his clients anticipate, avoid, mitigate and manage potential legal disputes through strategic advice during contract preparation and project execution.
Matthew previously served in-house at global energy major Shell plc (NYSE: SHEL) and global engineering and construction company KBR (NYSE: KBR), in addition to working in private practice with a boutique Houston-based construction law firm.
