Masao Fujino

Counsel, Tokyo

Biography

Overview

Masao Fujino is a Counsel in the Dispute Resolution group of the Firm's Tokyo office.

He supports clients on Japanese and international intellectual property, data privacy and antitrust matters arising from commercial transactions. In particular, he has a niche specialty in advising clients on terms of service and data privacy policies for SaaS and mobile apps, and on regulations governing e-commerce, online consumer transactions and advertising.

Complementing his legal skills, Masao brings technical experience and insight gained as an engineer while at a Japanese software company. This background has proven invaluable to clients involved in highly technical technology disputes and transactions.

Prior to joining White & Case, Masao was a lawyer at an international law firm in Tokyo. Earlier in his career, while a legal trainee (after passing the Japanese bar examination), Masao studied at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and the intellectual property division of the Tokyo District Court. He was a Fulbright Scholar while in graduate study at Stanford Law School.

Masao is a member of the Dai-Ichi Tokyo Bar Association as well as the Japan Association of Arbitrators. He serves as the Vice Chairman of the Outer Space Law Committee of the Dai-Ichi Tokyo Bar Association.
