Overview

Mark Moody is a partner in the Asset Finance Group in the London office of White & Case. Mark focuses on transportation finance with a particular emphasis on the aviation industry. He has extensive experience in cross-border aircraft financings involving operating lease financings, finance leases, tax-based leasing structures, capital markets structures, debt restructurings, Islamic financings, sale and leaseback structures and export credit supported financings. In addition, Mark has been heavily involved in the sale and purchase of substantial aircraft portfolios as well as advising on airline restructurings and bankruptcies and aircraft redelivery disputes.

His representative clients include financial institutions, export credit agencies, operating lessors, airlines, and equity investors in the aviation industry.

In addition to London, Mark has also practiced law in Frankfurt, Paris and Singapore where he focused on asset finance transactions throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Mark is recommended by The Legal 500 where clients describe him as "the stand out individual" and Chambers, which states that he is "a master in his field", "extremely knowledgeable" with a "great eye for detail" and "proactive in looking after the client at all stages of a deal."

Mark has acted on major aviation finance and leasing matters, including:

Representation of the European ECAs on the restructuring of the financing and leasing of 20 Airbus A320 aircraft for LATAM Airlines following its exit from Chapter 11;

Representation of an operating lessor in connection with the ECA refinancing of two Airbus A321 aircraft on lease to a Latin American airline;

Representation of an operating lessor in respect of its combined US$2.5 billion conventional and commodity Murabaha facilities;

Representation of an airline on the pre-delivery payments financing in respect of ten Airbus A321XLR aircraft;

Representation of operating lessors in the sale and purchase of portfolios of Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft on lease to numerous airlines;

Representation of an operating lessor in the liquidation of Thomas Cook and related impact on the leasing of several Airbus A321 aircraft;

Representation of a lender in the financing of three Airbus A320 NEO aircraft for an operating lessor leased to a U.S. airline; and

Representation of an operating lessor in the ongoing management of an ABS portfolio of 24 Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft.
