Biography
Overview
Jonny is an associate in White & Case's Global Commercial Litigation Practice and a member of the London Technology Disputes team, based in London. He has a broad practice in complex cross-border commercial litigation and international arbitration, with a particular focus on clients in the technology, financial services, aviation and energy sectors. He has also advised sovereign clients in relation to contentious restructuring issues.
Jonny joined White & Case as a trainee, gaining experience in the Firm's Intellectual Property and Asset Finance groups in London. He also spent six months working in the Energy, Infrastructure and Project Finance group in the firm's Tokyo office.
Jonny is actively involved with pro bono work. His experience includes acting in relation to environmental and human rights matters.
Experience
Acting for UK Finance, the trade body of the UK banking and finance industry, in Supreme Court proceedings concerning the extent to which financial institutions are liable to reimburse customers who have fallen victim to third party payment fraud.
Acting for a UK-regulated bank in a complex fraud-based dispute in the English Commercial Court arising from the enforcement of a share pledge securing a €150 million loan , and providing input on parallel litigation in the Luxembourg Courts.
Acting for a European state-owned energy company in an LCIA arbitration concerning a shareholder dispute under a joint venture arrangement.
Acting for an Indian real estate developer in a SIAC arbitration concerning a hospitality project in Mumbai, India.
Advising a global investment firm in relation to issues concerning various aircraft leasing arrangements.
Representing Meta Platforms Inc. as a member of the team that handles all international litigation for Meta, including matters implicating international data protection, privacy, defamation, hosting provider liability, intellectual property and consumer protection laws.
Acting for an international mining group in proceedings arising out of breaches of a share purchase agreement relating to the US$7 billion acquisition of one of the world’s largest copper projects.
Advising an African sovereign on English law debt restructuring issues.
Acting for a high-net-worth individual to successfully oppose a worldwide freezing injunction before the High Court relating to an alleged investment fraud.
