John Oltean
Biography
Overview
John is a litigation associate based in the Los Angeles office of White & Case, and is a member of the Firm's Global Technology Industry Group. His litigation practice focuses on representing technology and social media companies in complex civil litigation and regulatory disputes. In particular, he serves as a member of a team that manages international civil litigation and regulatory investigations for Meta Platforms on a global basis, including matters concerning privacy and data protection (GDPR), hate speech, and consumer class action claims. John also assists the Firm's Financial Restructuring and Insolvency Group on various bankruptcy and financial restructuring matters.
John devotes substantial time to various pro bono matters, and has assisted domestic and international organizations on various projects related to disability rights, criminal justice reform, and environmental justice.
John earned his JD from USC Gould School of Law. During law school, John was a member of the International Human Rights Clinic and participated in the Hale Moot Court Honors Program. John also served as a teaching assistant for Professors Sam Erman and Susan Estrich. John received the Carl Mason Franklin Award for excellence in the field of International Law, and the Edward and Eleanor Shattuck Award for making outstanding contributions to improve the law school and greater campus community at USC.
