Biography
Overview
Jakob Matell is an associate in our Debt Finance practice in Stockholm and joined White & Case in 2022. Jakob currently teaches corporate law and rights in rem at the law program at Örebro University. Prior to joining White & Case, Jakob studied Master of Laws in Örebro University in Sweden and also studied law in Paris Lodron University Salzburg in Austria.
Experience
Representation of Valedo on its sale of BRP Systems, a leading provider of gym and membership management systems to the Nordic fitness industry, to Nordic Capital, which has agreed to acquire a majority stake in the company and will support its sustainable growth through the further development of its platform and targeted European expansion.
Representation of ad hoc bondholders' committee on the successful consensual recapitalisation of Viaplay Group AB, a Sweden-incorporated Nordic streaming provider and content producer.
Representation of global fashion retailer H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB (H&M) on the issuance by H&M Finance B.V. of €500 million green notes due 2031, guaranteed by H&M. The notes were issued under H&M's €2 billion Euro Medium Term Note programme, updated during October 2023 to include mechanics for the issuance of use of proceeds green notes alongside sustainability-linked notes. The proceeds will be allocated to eligible projects in five categories defined in H&M's Sustainable Finance Framework.
