The Nord Stream Baltic pipeline
Representing the joint venture project company, Nord Stream AG, and the sponsors, OAO Gazprom, E.ON Ruhrgas AG, BASF/Wintershall GmbH, N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie and GDF Suez, on the construction of the Nord Stream Baltic pipeline, which runs from Russia to Germany through the Baltic Sea and the exclusive economic zones of Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany. The contract form was LOGIC. This matter was selected as 2009 European Gas Deal of the Year by Project Finance International magazine, as one of the Best Deals of 2009 by Global Trade Review magazine, as 2010 European Midstream Oil & Gas Deal of the Year by Project Finance magazine, and 2010 Oil & Gas Deal of the Year by Infrastructure Journal. In addition, as a result of White & Case's work on this ground-breaking project, our firm was selected as 2011 Infrastructure/Energy Team of the Year by The Lawyer.

Integrated refinery, power, port, rail, town and mine project, Guinea
Advising and drafting on behalf of the project sponsors the construction contracts and contract mining agreement for a US$2.5 billion integrated alumina refinery, power plant, port, rail, town and mine project in Sangarédi, Guinea.

The largest petrochemical complex in Mexico
Acting for a joint venture on the construction of the largest petrochemical complex in Mexico (consisting of an ethylene cracker and three polyethylene plants) to supply ethane to the Mexican state-owned oil and gas company. It was named Deal of the Year at the Project Finance International Awards 2012.

Nuclear power station, Türkiye
Advising an international contractor on the procurement of a contract for the construction of a nuclear power station in Türkiye.

Dispute Resolution:

Landmark hotel and retail development, Saudi Arabia
Representing the owner in connection with an ICC arbitration arising from the construction of a landmark hotel and retail development in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia under a FIDIC Red Book contract.

Oil refinery and pipelines, Latin America
Representing a major contractor in a US$1.4 billion ICC arbitration with a state petroleum company arising from construction of an oil refinery and pipelines in Latin America.

Airports, a Middle East government
Advising a Middle East government on disputes relating to the construction of new international airports and regional airports in the country, under various forms of FIDIC contract.

Sub-sea electrical interconnector, Europe
Representing a global electrical cabling supplier and contractor in an ICC arbitration under a FIDIC Yellow Book contract against an entity concerning a sub-sea electrical interconnector connecting two European countries.

Railroad in Central Europe
Representing a European main contractor in relation to claims for additional time and cost, made against a European State entity, arising from major railroad construction and renovation works in Central Europe. The dispute, which arose under a FIDIC Red Book contract, was resolved following DAB proceedings.

Offshore oil and gas facilities, Indonesia
Representing a major US oil company in an UNCITRAL arbitration with a major contractor relating to the construction of offshore oil and gas facilities in Indonesia.
