David Stone
Biography
Overview
David is "one of the most recognisable names in the industry" and works with the world's leading businesses to protect their most valuable asset: their brands. A distinguished IP litigator specialising in trademarks, registered and unregistered designs and copyright and a solicitor advocate, David also has the benefit of both private practice and inhouse experience.
His extensive expertise and experience means he is regularly sought after as a speaker to provide unparalleled narrative and advice on the most crucial IP issues of the day.
In addition to his client-facing work, David sits part time as a Deputy High Court Judge, hearing cases in the Chancery Division, including the Patents Court and the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC). He is also a Research Fellow of the Oxford Intellectual Property Research Centre, and teaches IP at the Universities of Oxford and Alicante, Spain.
The third edition of David's book, European Union Design Law: A Practitioners' Guide, will be published by Oxford University Press in 2025 and David sits on the editorial boards of Managing Intellectual Property, European IP Review and the Oxford Journal of IP Law and Practice.
