Anwaar Alshammari

Anwaar is a partner at White & Case based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Her practice focuses primarily on government advisory, public policy and regulation. She also regularly advises clients on Saudi law matters, investment funds, venture capital, governance and foreign direct investment.

Anwaar has worked at the Ministry of Investment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as Senior Legal Advisor to the Minister of Investment, and prior to that, as the General Counsel for the Saudi Venture Capital, the government's VC arm.

While working at the Ministry of Investment, Anwaar focused on the development of regulations impacting FDI, and policy shaping, and has represented the Ministry on several government committees relating to investment funds, financing products, special economic zones and incentive programs in different industries. Anwaar has played an instrumental role in the process leading up to the establishment of the Kingdom's first special economic zones.

In her role as General Counsel for the Saudi Venture Capital, Anwaar has lead investments in over fifteen private equity and venture capital funds,and has executed over thirty investments in high growth companies. She has also acted as Secretary of the Board of Directors, where she has set up the governance function, including the corporate governance codes and board charters.

Her further experience includes advising on joint ventures, commercial agency and distribution arrangements, and cross-border corporate restructuring of large groups and conglomerates, as well as landmark public offerings on the Saudi exchange, and Rule144A Regulation S offerings, and regularly advises on continuous obligations, governance requirements and practices and public disclosures.
