Overview

Specialising in the construction and engineering industry, Anita advises clients on managing legal risk and resolving disputes in complex infrastructure projects.

Prior to Australia, Anita practised in the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates, advising clients on domestic and cross-border disputes. She has substantial experience of all major forms of dispute resolution, with particular expertise in international arbitration.

Anita advises clients across varied sectors including transport, power generation, water desalination, IT, and hospitality.

Experience

Iraqi Power Plant*
Acted for a Jordanian company in ICC arbitration proceedings against an Indian contractor relating to a USD 100 million dispute over the construction of a gas fired power plant in Iraq, including enforcement proceedings in India, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Caribbean Hotel Development*
Acted for a major international contractor in contractual expert determination (England), arbitration (Bermuda), and Commercial Court litigation (England) proceedings arising out of a FIDIC-based design and build contract and related project securities.

Middle East Airport*
Acted for a publicly listed US IT company in FIDIC Dispute Adjudication Board proceedings arising out of the implementation of IT infrastructure at a new airport in the Middle East, including risk management advice following the liquidation of the original main contractor.

Water Desalination Plant*
Acted for a Spanish contractor in a dispute arising from the termination of a contract for the engineering, procurement, and construction of a landmark water desalination plant in the United Arab Emirates.

Chemical Manufacturing Complex*
Acted for an Indian contractor in ICC arbitration proceedings against an Emirati developer relating to the engineering, procurement, and construction of a USD 400 million industrial chemical manufacturing complex in the United Arab Emirates.
