Global law firm White & Case LLP continues to expand its Chicago office with the addition of two new partners. William Guerrieri joins as a partner in the Firm's Global Financial Restructuring and Insolvency (FRI) Practice and Jacob Schtevie has joined as a partner in the Firm's Global Banking Practice.
"Will is an experienced restructuring lawyer who we have seen on the other side of the table many times. I am really excited to now have him on our side," said Thomas Lauria, Global Head of White & Case's FRI Practice. "He's an excellent addition to our diverse FRI team in the US and will strengthen and increase the skillset of services we can offer to our clients. I expect Will to be working side by side with Jason Zakia, who leads our Chicago office and is a brilliant bankruptcy litigator."
Guerrieri has experience representing distressed companies in Chapter 11 reorganizations and out-of-court restructurings. His practice also includes representing distressed investors, financial sponsors and corporations with respect to distressed companies, asset acquisitions and other special situations.
"Jake's addition aligns with our Firm's strategic ambition to further expand our leading Banking Practice across the Americas," said Eric Leicht, Head of the Firm's Global Banking Practice. "Jake has a wealth of leveraged lending experience and a client base that complements our work with financial institutions and alternative capital providers. His expertise will be of great value to our clients as we continue to grow the bank finance offering in the Americas and in our Chicago office."
Schtevie advises leading financial institutions in senior, first- and second-lien, mezzanine, unsecured and unitranche financings, as well as various other complex financing transactions. He also has represented specialty non-bank lenders and borrowers.
John Reiss, White & Case's Global Head of M&A, added, "I'm extremely proud of the rapid success of our Chicago office and the momentum created by the ambitious, energetic, talented team of lawyers that we have so far hired. In less than a year since we opened the office, we have grown to 30 lawyers in Chicago and will continue to expand our team to keep up with client demands."
White & Case opened its Chicago office in June 2018. Guerrieri and Schtevie join a robust and growing office, which includes partners Jason Zakia, Eugene "Gene" Leone, Michael McKeever, David Pezza, Aaron Potter, Ruth Schoenmeyer, Gary Silverman, Thomas Horenkamp and Ray Bogenrief, who are part of the Global M&A Practice; and Carolyn Gurland, who focuses on white collar criminal defense and complex litigation.
