Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Otium Capital on its acquisition, alongside Quentin Reygrobellet and Martin Balas (former co-founders of JolieBox), of Birchbox France.
Otium Capital is a family office, managing the assets of founder Pierre-Edouard Stérin, a French entrepreneur and investor. Pierre-Edouard is the founder of SmartBox Group, a pan-European company (with approximately €500 million business revenue) in which he still holds more than 90 percent of the share capital.
Founded in 2010, Birchbox redefined the way people discover and shop for beauty and grooming by pairing a monthly subscription of personalized samples with relevant content and a curated e-commerce shop.
The White & Case team which advised on the transaction was led by partners Diane Lamarche and Guillaume Vitrich (both Paris), and included partners Samir Berlat and Estelle Philippi (both Paris), Daren Orzechowski (Silicon Valley), Emmie Jones (London), with support from associates Hugues Racovski, Margaux de Lembeye, Céline Oréal and Yasmine Sefraoui (all Paris).
