Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. (KIS), a leading securities firm in Korea, on its formation of a leveraged lending joint venture, SF Credit Partners, with Stifel Financial Corp., an international full-service investment bank in the US.
"This significant deal builds on the 2021 opening by KIS of its New York offices and aligns with its long term growth strategy focusing on extending its reach into new markets," said White & Case partner Dongho Lee, who led the Firm's deal team. "It is expected to provide a novel yet steady source of additional capital with the potential for building a durable profit center in the US."
The parties have also simultaneously entered into a strategic collaboration, which will enable each to benefit from and leverage the other's capabilities and geographic expertise. The joint venture and collaboration are subject to receipt of regulatory approvals.
The White & Case team which advised on the transaction was led by partner Dongho Lee (Seoul) and included partner Scott Fryman (New York), partner of counsel Duane Wall (New York), counsel Glen Cuccinello and Claudette Druehl (both New York), associates Kyle Oh (Singapore) and Yoon Choi (Seoul) and bank regulatory analyst Roseann Cook (New York).
