Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised KfW IPEX-Bank on the financing of the construction and operation of the Nuolivaara wind farm in northern Finland, which is owned by German project developer wpd europe GmbH.
KfW IPEX-Bank is providing all debt capital and necessary ancillary facilities.
"This is the fifth time that we have advised KfW IPEX-Bank on a wind project in northern Europe to generate green electricity and implement environmentally sustainable technologies," said White & Case partner Florian Degenhardt, who led the Firm's deal team. "At the same time, the project demonstrates our track record in international renewable energy projects."
The wind farm, which has a total capacity of 96.9 megawatts and is being built north of the Arctic Circle in Lapland, consists of 17 turbines from German manufacturer Nordex. The turbines are designed for the Arctic climate to enable permanent operation and annual energy yields based on long-term PPAs. The wind farm's completion and commissioning are scheduled for early 2023.
The White & Case team in Hamburg which advised on the transaction was led by partner Florian Degenhardt and included local partners Matthias Grigoleit and Matthias Bochum and associate Martin Riederer.
