Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Goldman Sachs Asset Management Division on its acquisition of a controlling stake in leading European specialty pharmaceuticals company Norgine BV.

"The investment by Goldman Sachs will support the Stein family and Norgine's management in the next phase of the company's growth and in their mission to bring transformative medicines to patients across the globe," said White & Case partner Ken Barry, who co-led the Firm's deal team.

Norgine is a European specialty pharmaceutical company with a presence in 16 European countries, as well as Australia and New Zealand, and over 1,500 employees. Founded by the Stein family over a century ago, Norgine is a leading manufacturer of over 40 products including Movicol, Moviprep and Plenvu, all drugs used in the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders. Norgine has a proven track record in bringing life-changing medicines to patients that they may not otherwise have access and in 2021 helped 24 million patients around the world. Following the investment by Goldman Sachs Asset Management Division, the founding Stein Family will continue to own a significant stake in the company.

White & Case partner Marcus Booth, who co-led the Firm's deal team, said: "Our role advising on this deal highlights White & Case's position as a go-to firm for private equity investments in the pharmaceuticals sector."
