Global law firm White & Case LLP has acted as Mexican deal counsel for Cox Energy, S.A.B. de C.V. (Cox) and Ibexia España Develpment S, L.U. (Ibexia) and its subsidiaries in the acquisition of 60 percent of the shares of Ibexia Cox Energy Development, S.L. (Ibox).

Cox already controls 40 percent of Ibox through its subsidiary Cox Energy Europa, and will now hold a 100 percent stake in the share capital of the entity. The transaction will consolidate Cox's operations, as well as integrate the current generation project pipeline.

"This transaction highlights our extensive experience advising market-leading clients and listed Mexican companies," said White & Case partner Eduardo Flores Herrera, who led the transaction. "It also showcases our ability to advise on complex, cross-border strategic public company M&A, tax and investments matters that are governed by Spanish and Mexican law."

COX is a utility company dedicated to the development, construction and management of energy generation projects with a presence across the Americas, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Ibox is an energy generation company focused on the development, promotion and operation of renewable energy plants, storage developments and biogas, which has a project portfolio totaling more than 900 MWs.

The White & Case team was led by partners Eduardo Flores Herrera and Carlos Martínez, and included associates Simon Micha and Mariel Martínez (all in Mexico City).
