Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Japanese medical equipment company Canon Medical Systems Corporation (Canon Medical) on its agreement to establish a joint venture with leading Russian healthcare provider R-Pharm Holding, LLC (R-Pharm).
The joint venture will focus on the sale and maintenance of diagnostic imaging equipment manufactured by Canon Medical in nine members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), including Russia, and the parties will finalise the joint venture when all the necessary regulatory approvals are obtained.
"The establishment of a joint venture has been proceeding since the G20 Osaka Summit held in June 2019 when Canon Medical and R-Pharm agreed on a strategic partnership in Russia in front of the heads of State of both Japan and Russia," said White & Case partner Jun Usami, who co-led the Firm's deal team. "We have successfully supported our client Canon Medical on this strategically important joint venture in Russia."
Canon Medical offers a full range of diagnostic medical imaging solutions including CT, X-Ray, Ultrasound and MR across the globe. R-Pharm Group introduces comprehensive solutions for the healthcare system and focuses on research, development, manufacturing and commercialization of pharmaceuticals, laboratory equipment and medical devices.
