Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Bank of New Zealand and MUFG Bank Ltd on the project financing of the 63 MW Lauriston Solar Farm near Christchurch, New Zealand.
"Australia and New Zealand continue to attract significant international investment into renewable energy projects," said White & Case partner Candice Ota, who co-led the Firm's deal team. “The project financing for the Lauriston Solar Farm is via a joint venture with a well known local energy developer and retailer."
The solar farm is being developed by a joint venture between Genesis Energy and FRV Australia, and is significant as it is the largest solar farm in Aotearoa New Zealand to reach financial close. Its offtake arrangement is underpinned by a ten-year power purchase agreement with Genesis Energy for 100 percent of the project’s renewable energy.
The White & Case team in Australia that advised on the transaction was led by partners Brendan Quinn and Candice Ota and included partner Hilary Cure and associates Samantha Sutton and Bongiwe Sindane.
