Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded its Intellectual Property Practice and Global Life Sciences and Healthcare Group with the addition of Sapna Palla as a partner in New York.
"Sapna brings an impressive record of accomplishment as a life sciences litigator, and we are pleased to welcome her to our growing IP roster in the US as we continue to solidify the Firm's reputation as the 'go-to' Firm for life sciences litigation matters for key pharmaceutical, biotech and medical technology clients," said Yar Chaikovsky, Head of White & Case's Intellectual Property Practice. "As leading medical and pharmaceutical manufacturers continue to face litigation challenges threatening intellectual property protection of their most important products, Sapna's litigation experience across an array of medical, pharmaceutical and life sciences technologies will be a significant asset to our strategic advisory work for major players in the industry on their most complex litigation."
As a life sciences patent litigator, Palla's experience covers a broad array of technologies, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, drug delivery systems and medical devices, mechanical devices, batteries, software and agrochemicals. She also represents clients in trademark, trade dress and copyright litigation, and counsels clients on trademark and copyright registration, strategy, licensing, IP due diligence and cross-border IP strategies.
Palla has also led a number of complex commercial disputes involving intricate contractual matters in the oil, renewable energy, construction and food services industries, and she has extensive experience with alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration and mediation. Palla regularly counsels and represents a variety of US and international clients regarding US intellectual property rights and conducts intellectual property due diligence investigations in connection with acquisitions and licensing deals.
"The breadth of Sapna's extensive experience in life sciences litigation will serve to enhance the Firm's already strong reputation in the health life sciences sector as the Firm continues to prioritize growing its disputes practices across the US market," said Peter Carney, Head of White & Case's Life Sciences and Healthcare Industry Group. "Her arrival adds to our already strong global footprint, which provides the Firm's IP Practice and Life Science and Healthcare Industry Group with a unique platform with which few other firms can compete."
Palla is the 12th lateral partner in the US to join White & Case in 2024. She joins Bethany Hills in New York, Melissa Anyetei in Chicago and Adam Greenfield and Mark Davies in Washington, DC as the most recent partner to join White & Case's growing Intellectual Property Practice. Last year, the group also added high-profile joiner, Yar Chaikovsky, Global Head of the Practice, as well as partners Phil Ou, Bruce Yen and David Okano, all in Silicon Valley, and Anna Naydonov and Jordan Coyle in Washington, DC.
