Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded its Global Debt Finance Practice with the addition of Daniel Abercromby as a partner in Hong Kong.
"Investing in our sponsor finance capabilities in Asia-Pacific is integral to meeting the growing client demand in the Region for specialist borrower and lender advice," said White & Case partner Eric Leicht, Head of the Global Debt Finance Practice. "Daniel's practice and client relationships share many synergies with our existing offerings in Asia-Pacific and will further complement and enhance our ability to serve our clients there.
Abercromby advises private equity funds and their portfolio companies, as well as credit and other special situations funds, on a wide variety of financings in the Asia-Pacific region, with a particular focus on South-East Asia, India and Greater China. He has extensive experience in leveraged and acquisition financings, direct lending transactions and special situations investments, together with the refinancing and restructuring of such transactions. Abercromby joins from Weil Gotshal & Manges, where he was a partner.
"Daniel is an experienced and highly regarded sponsor finance lawyer in the Asia-Pacific region," said White & Case partner Baldwin Cheng, Regional Section Head Asia-Pacific Corporate, Finance & Restructuring. "His arrival demonstrates our ambitions and commitment to sponsor finance and for the continued development and expansion of our M&A practice and private equity industry group in Asia-Pacific."
Partner Donald Baker, a member of White & Case's global Executive Committee, added: "We have been investing in our finance and corporate capabilities across Asia-Pacific since the addition of a four-partner private equity-focused team in Hong Kong in 2019, following which we have welcomed a further five lateral partners in addition to five partner promotions in the Region at the start of 2020. The global private equity industry is a strategic priority for White & Case and strengthening our sponsor finance offering through the addition of Daniel supports that and further builds on our growth in Asia-Pacific."
