The Daily Journal recognized White & Case partner Yar Chaikovsky in its issue featuring the Top Intellectual Property lawyers working in patent, trademark and copyright litigation.
In his profile, Yar spoke about his move to White & Case last March, noting, "We have a great global platform here, and that's very helpful to our clients."
Yar also commented on AI's impact on IP as well as a few cases he's working on, including at the U.S. International Trade Commission and in district court. In one of those cases, he is currently representing TikTok and ByteDance in a copyright infringement and trade secret misappropriation case. In a precedent-setting victory, Yar and his team successfully secured a grant of a petition for mandamus that transferred the case from the Fifth Circuit in Texas to the Northern District of California, where the case is still pending.
"We argued that many of the claims lack merit," said Yar. Noting that district court in the Western District of Texas had not ruled on its Rule 12 motion more than year into the case, Yar noted that a district court in the Northern District of California would likely take a different approach. "This is of great benefit to our client."
