White & Case Obtains Victory for Law Firm Client in Fight Against Malpractice Lawsuit
1 min read
The Daily Business Review featured an article about a White & Case victory led by Commercial Litigation partner Jim Robinson, on behalf of Buchanan Ingersoll's former South Florida managing partner in the Firm's fight against a legal malpractice lawsuit.
Prominent Miami developer Avra Jain sued Buchanan Ingersoll and its former partner Richard Morgan over a lawsuit she lost against business partner Abraham Cohen in a failed Doral venture. Buchanan Ingersoll countersued Jain for breach of contract after she stopped paying the firm.
The article notes that Judge Michael Hanzman "granted Buchanan Ingersoll's motion for summary judgment on Jain's note issue, rejecting her argument as a ‘bankrupt legal malpractice claim, which is nothing more than a misguided and desperate attempt to shift Jain’s adjudicated contractual liability onto her former counsel."
