White & Case Intellectual Property partner Yar Chaikovsky spoke to The American Lawyer about White & Case's Global Intellectual Property Practice and how the Firm is meeting the increase in demand for intellectual property litigation.
Yar detailed the practice's growth across its global offices, having added 15 lateral partners since January 2023, and its expanding presence in the Asia-Pacific region, where the Firm operates 10 offices. Specifically, he noted that "whether for or against, we're getting a lot of litigation [in China]."
The article highlighted several of the practice's clientele, such as ByteDance's TikTok, Mercedes-Benz and The Carlyle Group, as well as its recent win in a solar power technology patent infringement case leveled against Voltage by competitor Shoals Technology Group.
When discussing the Global Intellectual Property Practice's approach, Yar said, "we don't keep anything out of the toolbox. … And I think that differentiates us from what I see some of the traditional IP lawyers [doing]."
