In a Q&A with Forbes, White Collar partner Ladan Stewart discussed her experience at the SEC, transitioning from the public to the private sector, and the outlook for SEC enforcement in the crypto space.
Stewart said she is building her practice at White & Case "around trying to help players in the crypto industry navigate the thorny regulatory issues they face" and emphasized the importance of "restarting the engagement between the industry and the agency."
Stewart also shared her thoughts on the SEC's enforcement priorities in the crypto landscape including the agency's approach to DeFi, and the extent to which the SEC's enforcement strategy is dictated by resource constraints. She also offered her perspective on the practical challenges the industry would face in trying to comply with the federal securities laws.
