Expect continuity in 2025 anti-money laundering policy

In Law360, White & Case White Collar partner Joel Cohen, counsel Marietou Diouf and associate Olivia Hussey wrote an article on the range of anti-money laundering actions expected from federal financial regulators in 2025.

They said that companies should continue to monitor developments with regard to the Corporate Transparency Act, residential real estate transactions, the investment adviser rule, updates to the Anti-Money Laundering Act, the launch of FinCEN and the DOJ whistleblower programs and the focus on cryptocurrency regulation.

The authors also commented, "Looking ahead to a year filled with uncertainty, it can be daunting to parse the tea leaves. The bottom line: For AML, continuity may be more prevalent than change in 2025."

They also suggested that companies stay informed and proactive in complying with AML requirements. "Remaining vigilant in reporting and compliance will allow for smoother transitions in the rapidly evolving landscape."
