White & Case partner Sonja Hoffmann was interviewed for a feature in ELLE France on female leadership and on creating a good image as a businesswoman with sustainable fashion.
As a commercial litigation partner and a senior member of White & Case's Global Consumer & Retail Industry Group, Sonja developed a particular expertise in Sustainability / ESG litigation and in the assessment of ESG liability risks.
On sustainable fashion, Sonja explained: "My daily work in the ESG field has greatly increased my awareness of sustainable fashion, which has led me to change my wardrobe and shopping habits. The earrings I wear are handcrafted from recycled gold and conflict-free lab-grown diamonds. In addition, sustainability in fashion means for me not only buying sustainable clothes, but also investing in timeless and high-quality pieces to avoid creating waste and pollution."
Asked which message she as can give as a role-model for young people, Sonja said: "Try to build your own business plan as early as you can. Be brave enough to think outside the box and pursue new paths, even if they challenge the mainstream. My experience has taught me that following your instincts and staying true to your ideas will always pay off. But most importantly, stay true to yourself - authenticity is key."
