Global law firm White & Case LLP has been honored as an "Elite Firm" in this year's Latin Lawyer 250. The category recognizes the international counsel that are "operating at the very top of the region's legal market." This marks the second time the Firm has been ranked in the category, which debuted in 2023.

In its profile of the Firm, Latin Lawyer writes, "White & Case has built a remarkably successful Latin America offering over the past three decades and has firmly positioned itself as a leading international player in the region. It has steadily reinforced the ranks of its Latin American practice group through strategic hires and organic growth, and the efforts have been paying off; the firm has become increasingly visible on some of the biggest, most ground-breaking and influential deals around the region."

The publication describes the group as "capable of meeting a broad spectrum of clients' needs," praising our "truly top-tier transactional offering" and disputes team which has "pioneered the rise in commercial and investment arbitration in the region."

White & Case is recommended in the following seven practice areas:

  • Arbitration: "Only a couple of competitors show a similar volume and complexity of caseload across the region. White & Case has an enviable flow of work in investor-state claims, commercial cases and construction disputes."
  • Banking & Finance: "White & Case has a deep bench in this area and regularly advises borrowers, lenders, lead arrangers, agents and credit parties in the most significant, complex and high-value cross-border finance transactions in the Latin American market."
  • Capital Markets: "White & Case has a leading capital practice, with talent spread across New York, Miami, São Paulo and Mexico City and a steady and enviable share of top deals."
  • Corporate and M&A: "The enviable number of Latin American companies who turn to the firm bring it a regular flow of big-ticket deals. M&A work is where the firm's global reach comes into play—White & Case is good at assembling teams quickly from across multiple offices."
  • Environmental, Social & Governance: "Leveraging its strong finance and capital markets offerings in Latin America, White & Case has built a successful multidisciplinary ESG group to which lawyers across multiple offices contribute with their expertise."
  • Pro Bono: "In a high-impact case, the firm partnered with the Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice in New York and the Guatemalan organization Colectivo Artesana to address the local government's alleged failure to protect the rights of children and adolescents. The work resulted in a national protocol to address the issues raised."
  • Project Finance & Infrastructure: "Thanks to a large team of senior and highly talented lawyers, the firm has developed a pre-eminent practice advising on ground-breaking, complex and innovative transactions."

Christian Hansen, head of White & Case's Latin America Practice, said, "We are delighted for Latin Lawyer to recognize us as an "Elite Firm" for the second year in a row and believe that it demonstrates our ongoing commitment to our clients and to the region, and that it reflects the genuinely exciting, cutting-edge matters in which we are involved."

Now in its 26th year, Latin Lawyer 250 draws on decades of local market knowledge and research by its editorial and research teams.
