Environmental Finance named a transaction on which global law firm White & Case LLP advised "Green bond of the year" at the 2021 Environmental Finance Bond Awards. The awards "celebrate the leading green, social and sustainability bond deals and leading market participants," according to Environmental Finance. Winners were selected by a panel of judges from among major green bond investors.
In the winning deal, White & Case advised the Federal Republic of Germany (Bund), represented by the Federal Ministry of Finance, which is in turn represented by Bundesrepublik Deutschland – Finanzagentur GmbH (Finance Agency), on its first issuance of a Green Federal bond, with a principal amount of €6.5 billion.
The transaction "Adds new concepts into traditional green bonds, such as twin-bond concept, greenium, and international cooperation as one of the use of proceeds (UOPs)," said one Environmental Finance Bond Awards judge. More about the winning transaction is available in the award announcement.
